Paul
Gibbons
Paul founded Future Considerations in 2001 with the intention of creating
a world-class consultancy firm that effected transformational change
through working with people and culture. The ethos of the firm is ethical
management consulting; the firm cares as much about corporations doing
good as generating excellent financial returns.
Paul now divides his time
between consulting and coaching, academic studies (he is a doctoral
student in Philosophy), and writing. In
his consulting and coaching work, Paul coaches a small number of C-level
executives, and facilitates workshops and learning events for top teams.
His clients have included Barclays, UBS, PwC, KPMG, Shell, Cadbury
Schweppes, British Airways, Royal Sun Alliance, and IBM.
Paul’s publications include "Making the Leap", an
article that clarifies the confusion around leadership and management; “Spirituality
at Work”, an authoritative critique of an interesting new area
in business leadership; "The Body of Leadership, a holistic examination
of leadership and personal development; and "Sustainable Change",
an analysis of the implementation gap in business sustainability.
His
keynote and motivational talks include “Leading sustainable
businesses”, “Who is afraid of business ethics?”, “Is
leadership development a waste of money?”, “Leading with
values”, “Is spirituality at work hogwash?”, “Philosophy
and business”, “Can the best be improved?”, and “The
future of people development”.
Before consulting, Paul was an
investment banker, specialising in derivatives trading for Salomon
Brothers, CSFB and Morgan Stanley. At
23, he was head of sales and trading for Sanwa bank in London (then
the third largest bank in the world) and a pioneer of the Eurobond ‘repo’ market.
His academic background is in Finance, Psychology, Molecular Biology
and Philosophy and he has been honoured by visiting scholar positions
at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Surrey. He
was a Council Member at the Academy of Management and President of
the Philosophy Society.
Paul lives in London with his wife Cari
and toddler son Conor. He holds national championships in Bridge and
has represented England on several occasions, as well as winning international
backgammon and poker tournaments. He reads philosophy, contemporary
science, economics, politics and science fiction and likes golf, tennis
and travel.
